There are children across the world in need of love and affection. There are children without homes, without shelter. Many of them have suffered abuse, trauma, or have certain physical scars that prevents them from being adopted.

However, one mom is determined to help those in need. Kristen Williams adopted Munni and Roopa, both of them Indian girls with facial scars.

Kristen Williams’ original intent was to adopt a daughter from Nepal, however due to a series of fortunate events, she ended up with two lovely Indian daughters.

We’re glad they found each other.

The two sisters are happy and enjoy life despite what they’ve been through.

Roopa had been abandoned amongst trash and her nose had been chewed away by animals and rodents. Munni had been abused and abandoned early in her life.

Once their story became known, they were featured on The Doctors, wherein both girls would be given a transformative surgery on live TV.

The surgery was to be conducted by Dr. Gregory Gion and Dr. Jon Mendelsohn, both of them experts in their respective fields.

The Doctors

Dr. Jon Mendelsohn was responsible for reducing the scars that Munni bore.

Dr. Mendelsohn was going slow, however the surgery seemed to trigger Munni’s Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

As such, she had to be put under anesthesia entirely.

The Doctors

They started with her forehead and scalp.

Kristen described the surgery as “a physical way to leave your past behind.” She hopes that Munni’s emotional scars would soon heal as well.

Munni is perfect just the way she is, but if the surgery can make her leave behind her trauma, even momentarily, we’re happy for her.

You can see how confident Munni looks after the surgery!

She loves fashion, and now she can focus on that happily!

The Doctors

Roopa had to get a prosthetic nose designed to suit her face! And it really does suit her! She looks adorable!

However, the nose would have to be taken off while going to bed and put back on when she wakes in the morning. Her doctor would be with her as she grows up, modifying the nose so it can grow with her.

The Doctors

The sisters look adorable when they return to the show.

You can see that they’re still a little camera shy.

The Doctors

The Doctors gave them one parting surprise, they were sent to Disneyland!

They seem to really be enjoying themselves!
