Cyclist Meets His New Best Friend - An Adorable Quokka
We all know how friendly animals can be, but when think of furry friends forming bonds with humans, we often think about cats and dogs. This cyclist had a rather unique animal encounter while riding through Australia!
While domesticated pets like dogs and cats are often very approachable and friendly towards humans, it’s pretty rare for any wild animals to trust us enough to even let us get near them. Most of these animals are immensely fearful of humans and will flee at the first hint of danger.
However, this little quokka wasn’t like the rest!
Cyclist Campbell Jones was enjoying a ride through the Australian wilderness when he noticed a cute little quokka at the side of the road.
Quokkas are known for being exceptionally cute little fluffballs, and this one was no different.
Campbell cautiously got off his bike and decided to snap a few photos of the quokka. When he turned around to continue on his way, he was astonished to see the quokka suddenly scurry towards him!
“I put down the GoPro and it jumped at me as if to say ‘come back,'” Campbell said.
Unlike many other wild animals, quokkas actually tend to be quite curious creatures and will approach people without too much fear.
Other people have enjoyed similar experiences to Campbell, and the hashtag #quokkaselfie has even become quite popular on Instagram.
As cute as they are, it’s a sad fact that quokkas are a relatively endangered species, so let’s all spread support for these little guys and do what we can to help them out! You can do your part by SHARING this article on social media.
