Cat Missing for More Than a Year Travelled 16 Miles and 3 Cities Away from Home Before Reunion with Owner

Freddy, the cat had been missing for 1 year, 3 months, and 17 days. He was 16 miles and 3 cities away from home and but for the intervention of 3 women who connected on Facebook, Freddy would have never made his way back home.

One winter night, Char Gruber was driving down highway one in Minneapolis, when she saw a small black cat at the side of the road. She pulled over and when Freddy meowed and lifted both his cold paws, Char figured he must belong to someone. With temperatures due to drop to -13 degrees Fahrenheit, she didn’t want to leave him out in the cold and got on social media to ask for help.

Carolyn Kristine, a 60-year-old cat trapper, who had rescued more than 100 cats that year, saw the post and went to Freddy’s rescue. Within minutes of setting her trap, she had Freddy in hand and was back over the snowy embankment.

Another Facebook user, Anne Ciecko, offered to give Freddy a warm home for the night and discovered that Freddy had a chip.

Checking the microchip led to Justin and a reunion for the pair who probably believed that they would never see each other again.

The first thing Freddy did on his return was to jump into bed with Justin like nothing had ever happened!
